TurkSat 6A Begins Its Mission: Credit Graham Smith - We Report Space

Cape Canaveral S.F.S. FL. – On the evening of July 8, 2024, a Falcon 9 lifted off from Launch Complex 40 taking to orbit the TurkSat 6A communication satellite. Delayed at the opening of the window due to weather in the area, liftoff came at 7:30 PM EDT.

Turkish Aerospace who built the TurkSat 6A partnered with SpaceX to carry Turkey’s newest and also first satellite developed solely in Turkey with national & domestic resources.

Once in orbit, the Turksat 6A will be placed into a geostationary orbit at over 35,000 kilometers above earth allowing it to be used by 118 countries & an estimated 4+ billion users in the civil and military governments as well as commercial sectors covering parts of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Northern Africa. This satellite has a planned expected life of 15 years.

Shortly after launch, the first stage booster on its 15th flight made a successful landing on the recovery ship “Just Read the Instructions”. Story and Images by: Graham Smith – We Report Space
