Historic Falcon 9 Booster Lost After Successful 19th Landing

Port Canaveral, FL. – After a successful nineteenth launch and landing for the SpaceX Falcon 9 booster 1058, an unfortunate event took place when the booster tipped over during transport. This was due to high winds and waves on the ocean. This booster was historic not only in terms of the number of flights flown, booster 1058's maiden flight launched Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley and the DM-2 mission to the International Space Station. The first Astronauts to fly from the United States after the completion of the Space Shuttle Program.

The DM-2 mission launched from Launch Complex 39-A back on May 30, 2020. Other notable flights for booster 1058 were the Transporter 1 and 3 flights as well as ANASIS – II and multiple Starlink flights. In a statement from SpaceX thru “X” formally Twitter: "During transport back to Port early this morning, the booster tipped over on the droneship due to high winds and waves. Newer Falcon boosters have upgraded landing legs with the capability to self-level and mitigate this type of issue," per SpaceX.
