Kennedy Space Center, FL. – After several delays including an issue at the International Space Station (I.S.S.) a Falcon 9 lit up the very early morning sky for a flight to the I.S.S. Liftoff came at 2:31 AM EDT and a short time later, the first stage booster made a successful landing at LZ-1 at Cape Canaveral S.F.S. This is the forth mission for Axiom Space of sending private astronauts to the orbiting station.

SpaceX placed its latest and possibly its last new Crew Dragon atop a Falcon 9 for flights to the I.S.S. as well as other space missions.

C213 is a brand-new Dragon partaking in its maiden flight and as of yet, the name of the space craft has not been made public. Naming is an honor passed on to the inaugural crew.

Aboard will be a crew of four, with former NASA astronaut & now an Axiom employee; Commander Peggy Whitson, Pilot Shubhanshu Shuklawith the Indian Space Research Operation, Mission Specialist and ESA (European Space Agency) employee Slawosz Uznanski Wisniewski from Poland & Project Astronaut Tibor Kapu from HSO (Hungary Space Office).

In a statement from Axiom Space: “This mission shows that space exploration is no longer limited to a few nations — it’s a shared effort that reflects the best of what we can achieve together,” said Commander Peggy Whitson. “We launched a message to the world that science, exploration, and unity transcend borders. For me, returning to space is always a privilege. But leading this crew — representing the dreams and determination of India, Poland, and Hungary as they return to human spaceflight — that’s something truly special. We’re carrying the hopes of millions who dare to look up and imagine what’s possible. This is what the future of space looks like — bold, inclusive, and driven by purpose.”

This will be a flight of “seconds”. For Shukla, he will be India’s second astronaut, Uznanski will be Poland’s second astronaut, Kapu, the second Hungarian Astronaut & Whitson will be commanding her second commercial flight.

Ax-4 represents Axiom Space’s continued efforts to build opportunity for countries to research, innovate, test, and engage with people around the world while in low-Earth orbit,” said Michael Suffredini, CEO of Axiom Space. “This mission broadens horizons for nations with ambitious goals of advancing scientific, technological, and economic pursuits. Our collaboration with ESA for a second time and the inclusion of Hungary and India underscores Axiom Space’s ability to cultivate global partners, expand the scope of exploration, and open up new avenues to grow a global space economy.”

The crew carried with them 60 experiments & research activities that were carried out for a total of 31 countries. Collectively, these 60 experiments were the most ever by an Axiom crew while visiting the I.S.S. during its scheduled 14 day mission. Once the Axiom crew arrives at the I.S.S., they will be docking at the Harmony portion of the station.
