This event truly marks the end of an historic era in space flight. This is launch site that was originally built in the 1960's for the Apollo program and used to launch Saturn 1B rockets. LC-37 was transferred to United Launch Alliance and modified to handle their Delta series of rockets, including the Delta 4 Heavy, and used for launching many military and space science payloads over the years including Parker Solar Probe.

The site is being transferred to SpaceX for launching and retrieving their Starship series of rockets into the future, so it may well be the site of the first manned flight to Mars in years to come.
